Strategy Automation

Your edge disappears the moment you hesitate.

Define your rules once in Hartwell & Sons and the terminal executes them the same way, every time — without hesitation, second-guessing, or fatigue.

Node-based rule builder connecting strategy logic

How strategy automation works inside the terminal

Strategy automation in the Hartwell & Sons terminal is built around a rule engine that reads your entry and exit conditions as a structured set of logical statements. You can define these via the visual rule builder — a node-based interface that requires no coding — or by uploading a JSON schema if you prefer to keep your logic in version control. The engine evaluates incoming ticks against your conditions in real time and generates order instructions the moment conditions are satisfied. Those instructions go through the risk-control layer before reaching the broker API, so there is no way to bypass your own safety limits even by accident. Order types supported include market, limit, stop-limit, and trailing stop.

What the automation engine handles for you

Details that add up to a meaningful difference in real sessions.

Visual rule builder

Design entry and exit logic using a drag-and-drop node interface. Conditions include price comparisons, moving average crossovers, volume thresholds, and time-of-day filters. No code required, but JSON export is always available.

Sub-second execution

From the moment a condition is met to the moment the order instruction reaches the broker API, the typical path is under 80 ms. We log the gap on every trade so you can verify it yourself in the execution log.

Slippage modelling

The engine factors in historical bid-ask spread data for each instrument when sizing limit orders, reducing the gap between your backtest results and live execution. You can set an acceptable slippage ceiling per strategy.

Multi-strategy support

Run up to five independent strategies simultaneously on the Standard and Pro plans. Each strategy has its own capital allocation, risk parameters, and reporting view — they do not share limits or interfere with each other.

I used to spend Sunday evenings writing down my rules so I wouldn't forget them during Monday's open. Now I enter them into the builder once and the terminal just runs them. I haven't second-guessed an entry in four months.
